We spoke with intuitive energy artist Ilisa Millermoon about her work and what motivates her.
ABI: How would you describe the inspiration and message of your artwork?
IM: I am an Intuitive Energy Artist. Before I begin creating I invite my Angels, Spirit Guides, and my Divine Source to create with me and through me. I’ll also invoke the spirits of Freda Kahlo, Georgia O’Keeffe, Maya Angelou and Gene Wilder if I need to lighten my mood.
Then suddenly, there is a whole party in my studio as we create together! Each of my creations are infused with Positive Energy and High Vibrations to transform the space it resides in and those who view it.
I grew up in a conservative Mennonite family and community where women were considered to be “Less Than.” I never want another woman to feel “Less Than.” My Mission is Celebrating the Strength, Passion and Divinity of Women Through Color.
I help women design their Soul Expansion Journey to Discover their Divine Power by Tapping into their Creative Spirit. So that they can freely embrace their Sacred Self, Heal, Grow and Blossom.
ABI: Tell us about the mediums you use and your technique.
IM: I’ve been in a long-term love affair with acrylic ink on watercolor paper for the past ten years. When I first began my art career, my paintings were tight and mechanical. Then I discovered Intuitive Energy Art. Using acrylic ink, a water spray bottle and watercolor paper I create with my Angels, Spirit Guides and Divine Source. It is quite freeing!
I have no preconceived idea of what the end result with be. I place the acrylic ink on the watercolor paper and invite it to dance with me. We have a conversation as to where it would like to move on the watercolor paper. I use the water spray bottle to move the acrylic in in the direction it tells me it wants to go. It’s a delightful dance!
ABI: What have you learned about marketing, and how have you developed your network?
IM: My first step was building the foundation for my business by developing basic business practices such as keeping an inventory record of my artwork, having a professional photographer photo my artwork, organizing my finances and growing my collector list. I wrote down all of my strengths and weakness, and hired professionals for tasks that were not my forte.
Social media has given me the opportunity to connect with people from all over the world. I am committed to consistently showing up and being visible so that people know why I create which leads me to my Soul Tribe. My Soul Tribe are those who my artwork resonates with on a Soul Level.
The most important thing I learned about marketing is building meaningful relationships with my art collectors. Also, building relationships with others who may not be art collectors but who will gladly connect me with potential art collectors. That is the key to any successful business: Building Relationships. I get to know my art collectors personally and delight in staying in touch with each of them. It’s been a Magickal Journey!
