Sharing details about your inspiration, methods and background helps to make the connection with your customer. Use these tactics to close more sales.
1. Use conversation to make that important personal connection. Customers buy for emotional reasons, and your story matters. With each piece that you sell, the buyer receives a little piece of your creativity. This adds value, and is intrinsic to handmade work. Your story is a part of that, and your customers will tell your story again when they proudly show their purchase to friends.
2. Stress the benefits of your work by sharing what is important to your customer. Is your gallery-wrapped canvas print ready to hang and lightweight to ship? Are your ceramic bowls microwave and dishwasher safe? Can your painted silk scarves be hand washed? These all speak to the convenience to the buyer.
3. Place the item under consideration into their hand. Touch is a powerful sense that helps your customers have a different sensory experience of your work. Let them feel the quality, the weight, the texture of your handmade work. Holding the object also conveys a sense of ownership, as it is passed from you to your customer.
