The Arts Business Institute Winter Workshop will take place at the American Made Show in Washington, DC on January 17 -18, 2015.
The annual Winter Workshop presented by The Arts Business Institute serves artists and craftspeople who want to launch or grow their small businesses into successful studios. We provide essential and foundational information in a highly focused program, as well as personal follow up support through mentoring.
Artists interested in entering the national marketplace for handmade goods will benefit from the presentations, as well as fine artists who want to learn more about marketing and selling their artwork.
Topics to be covered in this two-day workshop are:
- Wholesale 101
- Creative Marketing
- Social Media for Artists
- Building Gallery Relationships
- Copyright Protection
- Pricing for Profit
- Art and the Corporate World
- Sales Strategies
In addition to these topics, ABI attendees will interact with a panel of working artists in a Q&A session, as well as with the Director of the American Made Show. A tour of the trade show floor will give students the experience of a top wholesale event, meeting exhibitors and retail buyers who attend to purchase goods for their stores and galleries.
A popular part of this annual event is the Critique, in which workshop attendees display their work for evaluation by gallery owners and buyers, receiving feedback on their collections, pricepoints and potential markets. Additionally, personalized business consultations with ABI founder Wendy Rosen and Executive Director Carolyn Edlund are available but are extremely limited and should be pre-scheduled.
Tuition for this weekend is $250. Early registrants who sign up for the event by November 10 deadline will receive a $50 discount.
