Do You Need a Line Sheet?

How to create a line sheet is a question we often get from artists . . . here is an easy way to take care of that task.

line sheets

If you have a collection of work you want to sell to galleries, museum stores, gift shops and other retailers, you will need a “line sheet” which displays your designs for ease in ordering.

Many thanks to artist Gayle Mahoney for a wonderful suggestion that makes line sheets easier than ever. She recommends Line Sheet Maker, a website that helps you create, organize and share your collection. Choose from templates in various layouts that include up to 16 boxes per page for product images. Crop your images, type in description and information, and make changes as you need to. Make as many line sheets as you need.

You can print, or email your line sheet, which makes it very easy to get your collection in the hands of prospective buyers.

Should you include prices on your line sheets?¬†Many retailers say, “No” because they would like to be able to show your line sheet to their customers for special orders without revealing their prices. But – since Line Sheet Maker has the option to duplicate line sheets and customize them, you can make sheets with prices, and the same sheet without, and send both to your wholesale customers to use as needed. It’s just that easy!
