Scholarship in honor of Betty Lou Shaw is now offered to artists working in jewelry design to attend the Winter Workshop.
Long-time Buyers Market exhibitor Julie Shaw creates incredible wearable works of art. Her jewelry designs are an excellent example of the high quality work shown and sold to galleries and retailers at the February trade show.
This past year, Julie lost her mother and best friend, Betty Lou Shaw. A full scholarship has been offered in her name to an artist working in jewelry design who wishes to attend the Arts Business Institute Winter Workshop. The workshop takes place February 16-17, 2013.
As an old friend of the show, Julie Shaw is an active supporter of other artists, through arts business education and also through the CERF+ Craft Emergency Relief Fund.
Julie remembers her mother Betty Lou Shaw as an “amazing influence.” Once a top model in New York City, she raised her children while “always providing encouragement and support. No matter what I wanted to do, she was there for me,” Julie says. She is pleased to announce this scholarship in her mother’s name in order to support other artists who wish to pursue making handcrafted jewelry as a business.
Jewelry artists wishing to apply for the scholarship, which pays full tuition for the workshop, should apply by the DEADLINE of January 15, 2013.
