The Arts Business Institute, in partnership with F+W Publications, has announced an upcoming e-course “How to Launch a Successful Handmade Business” to begin September 1, 2015 at Craft Online University

Wendy Rosen, Founder of ABI, and Carolyn Edlund, Executive Director, have created a comprehensive beginning course for those who would like to start a small business selling their handmade goods. The course is also appropriate for entrepreneurs who are already in business, but are facing roadblocks and challenges.

This six-week course contains lessons on the following topics:

  • Setting the Groundwork for Success
  • Create Your Vision and Set Your Goals
  • Making Work that Sells: Your Creative Process & Strategies
  • Who Is Your Customer?
  • Your Presentation and Your Brand
  • The Marketplace for  Your Work

The course includes instructional material and strategies, videos, case studies, artist stories, self-evaluations, homework exercises and more. An online discussion board will be available for the duration of the course, in which students can converse with the instructors, getting individual feeedback and guidance.
