The Arts Business Institute is pleased to announce an upcoming Art Business Workshop taking place this October 24-25 in Portland, Maine.
Maine Crafts Association and the Maine College of Art have partnered to sponsor this learning event, which will present topics of interest to working artists, students and others interested in launching or growing a creative business.
Speakers include Wendy Rosen, the founder of The Arts Business Institute, The American Made Show and publisher of NICHE Magazine. Also speaking will be Carolyn Edlund, the Executive Director of The Arts Business Institute and artist Patti Dowse, a Maine native who brings decades of experience as a successful entrepreneur to the program.
Topics will include:
- Wholesale 101
- Creative Marketing
- Pricing for Profit
- Sales Strategies for Artists
- Making Work that Sells
- Artists & Money
- Building Gallery Relationships
- How to Photograph Your Artwork
In addition, a panel of experts will discuss and take questions about their expertise and advice for artists. Panel discussions are always a popular part of the workshop experience.
Artists who attend may opt to schedule a personal consultation during the two-day event, which gives them one-on-one time with ABI faculty to talk about their challenges, planning and potential markets.
Regular tuition for this event is $200 for Maine Crafts Association members and $250 for non-members, but an early bird registration special price is available through July 31st which gives a $25 discount.
The staff of Maine Crafts Association is very pleased to sponsor this program for their members and area artists.
“The ABI workshop series has such a strong reputation with established artists, including several prominent MCA members,” says MCA Executive Director Sadie Bliss. “They credit it with jump-starting their careers, getting them to the ‘next level’ and giving them confidence to reach out to new markets. The MCA, with MECA as a co-sponsor, is so excited to bring this program to Portland in October and give Maine artists the opportunity to dig deeper into their businesses!”
