My ABI mentor’s advice and direction were key to giving me the confidence and the know-how to begin wholesaling my products through trade shows. When we spoke, I had only 2 small, local wholesale accounts. I’m proud to say that now I have 30 in over 14 states, several with re-orders after only a few months! While I am now working hard to manage this demand and grow my brand, this is a really GOOD issue to deal with! I don’t think I could have ramped up so quickly and so successfully without your guidance. ~ Amy Frank, Mindfully Made Studios
Consultations are offered at $150.00 per hour.

“My experience with the one-on-one consultation was fantastic: it was an hour-long learning experience with someone who understands from hands-on experience the vagaries the art market and who had done the research on my particular niche in advance of the interview. I left the hour with three separate, viable options (with contacts!) for the future of my illustration business. I learned more in this hour than I did in the whole year preceding the consultation.” – Jessica Boehman, Illustrator
No one thought I was a first-time exhibitor at my first tradeshow – with all the guidance and tips from ABI workshops and personalized consultations with Executive Director Carolyn Edlund, it appeared as though I’ve been refining a well-oiled business for years . . . . I have been a painter, illustrator and craftsperson for many years. I went to Philadelphia in February to the ABI marketing workshop for artists/craftspeople where I met Carolyn Edlund, who was kind enough to offer her services as a consultant. It was not only a fantastically informative … Carolyn and I spoke on the phone for an hour… I felt she was completely knowledgeable about my needs, the saleability of my work, and the trials and tribulations of being an artist trying to make a living. I will definitely use her again and I recommend her wholeheartedly to anyone trying to market their art. – Ellie Wyeth, Painter
Different from an open forum or workshop, which could be informative but too generic at most times, the one-hour consultation with ABI focused specifically to my needs and my business. The one-on-one consultation allows me to feel free asking questions of any sorts – from basic questions I am usually too embarrassed to ask in an open forum, like how to conduct myself in an interview with a buyer, to strategic questions like where my sweet spot is in the market. The consultant shared a similar background in trade as myself so the advice is relevant and very useful to me.” – Debbie Liu, designer and owner of Harlequin&Lionhead Jewelry
I did my homework before I started my wholesale business, but nevertheless came upon some situations that caused me to have questions. Not knowing anybody in the business that I could ask, I was grateful to find ABI’s personalized business consulting service for artists. After our one-hour conversation, I had my questions answered and a clear plan of action for my next steps. The consultation was money well spent! – Evelyn Pelati, jewelry designer
