Arts Business Institute Workshop Registration Now Open

Baltimore, MD (Nov. 11, 2011) — Registration is open now for the Arts Business Institute’s Philadelphia February 2012 Workshop, a two-day seminar for artisans who wish to learn to sell their work wholesale to galleries, museum shops and gift stores.

The program will take place Sat.-Sun., February 18-19, 2012, from 10:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. during the Buyers Market of American Craft trade show at the Pennsylvania Convention Center in Philadelphia. Registration is $250.  For more information or to register, visit the workshop section of the Arts Business Institute website.

The workshop will cover the basics of wholesaling, product line development and pricing, how to prepare for the demands of creating in volume, copyright law, social media and how to market and exhibit your artwork. Participants will learn to build profitable relationships with stores and galleries.

NEW THIS YEAR – Meet the Galleries!  Each participant in the workshop will have tabletop space to display his or her original products. Actual gallery owners and retail buyers will review and critique their products for saleability, price, cohesiveness of the collection, and other factors. Personalized feedback will be provided to each participant to help them develop their product line for success in the marketplace.

The workshop also includes a tour of the tradeshow floor, where hundreds of studio artists and craftspeople from the United States and Canada exhibit their gift, jewelry, furniture and fashion products to buyers from retail gift, art and craft galleries, museum stores and boutiques.

A limited number of scholarships will be available.

This Workshop is sponsored by the nonprofit Arts Business Institute and the Buyers Market of American Craft,  the nation’s premier wholesale tradeshow connecting U.S. and Canadian artisans with retail galleries and museum stores.
